A Little Bit About Us…

The Old Fashioned Girls consist of a mom (Kerry) and twin daughters (Katie & Megan).  We enjoy living our lives for our Creator, growing our own veggies, creating homemade foods, raising heritage chickens for eggs and meat, sewing art quilts, historical dancing, anything crafty, home education and doing as much as possible the “Old Fashioned Way!”  We have made our own soap, canned apple butter, sewn gowns, made quilts, exchanged only hand crafted Christmas presents and much more…  Trust us, this is only the tip of the iceberg…  We can’t wait to share our projects and hopefully encourage you to get your hands dirty too, creating a heritage together with the Old Fashioned Girls!

  1. You sound just like me and my mom! I am a home educated, old fashioned, Canadian girl. I love to dance old fashioned dances with my grandparents, sew old fashioned dresses, read old fashioned books, and love my Creator. I might not be as awesomely old fashioned as you (I have never made soap, although I would love to try) but it is so nice to hear I am not the only old fashioned young lady out there.
    Thank you for your insiration!

    1. Hi Catherine,
I’m so glad you have been enjoying our blog and it sounds like we have quite a lot in common. In fact, you even have the same name as my sister, who goes by Katie, except that she spells Katherine with a K. My first thought on dating is that the conventional dating that most teens practice is very self oriented and is not Biblically based. I believe that God has a plan for each of us and will bring the right person into my life at the right time and until then I am going to continue growing in Him and doing the work He has for me to do here and now. When the time does come and God brings the right person into my life, I hope that both our parents will be there to guide us as we move beyond just friendship and form a relationship with God at the center. One book that I, along with some of my close friends have found encouraging on this topic, is book called “Before You meet Prince Charming,” by Sarah Mally.

  2. You are so encouraging! It is so refreshing to hear things spoken by a sister in Christ that are almost spot on with what I have been believeing for some time now. I know several young ladies who disagree with the biblical way to do things, and it is a bit discouraging.
It was so refreshing to stumble across your blog!
    God Bless
