Gluten Free Chocolate Cake

Hello Friends!  Below is one of our family’s favorite recipes, homemade chocolate cake.  This is a favorite of ours and one of our go to recipe for years .  Once we went gluten free we had to adapt it and are happy to say it still tastes the same as our good old wheat flour cake days!  That said if you aren’t gluten free just use regular wheat flour and don’t add the Xanthan gum and you will be good to go!

I hope you enjoy this recipe and the moist chocolate cake, that beats out cake mixes any day.  Mom taught us to make it when we were little and has been making it herself for the past 22 years.  With Valentines just days away, if you are looking for a Valentines treat use a heart shaped pan and maybe even add some sprinkles and you’ll have a treat your family will love!

Chocolate Cake

2 Cups Gluten Free Flour

2 Cups Sugar

2 Cups Hot Water

1 cup Baking Cocoa

2 Teaspoons Baking Powder

2 Teaspoons Baking Soda

1 Teaspoon Xanthan Gum


Mix Together Then Add

2 eggs

½ cup melted butter

Mix Well!

Pour into greased 9×13 inch baking pan.

Bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 30 to 35 minutes.  Once cooled sprinkle with powdered sugar (that is if you can wait that long!).
