Easy Cranberry Scones

This is an easy, but delicious recipe for scones, that you can make for tea parties, a ladies get together or even just as a treat for your family.  Because of the delicious scones and the simplicity of the recipe, it has become one of mom’s favorites and Katie makes them almost every year for her birthday.

Cranberry Scones

*Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

1 cup shortening

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1 cup craisins

3/4 cup milk

3 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoons salt

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.  Add egg and beat well.  Mix in craisins and milk.  Add dry ingredients and mix well.

Flour hands and roll scones into balls the size of a golf ball.  Drop onto a cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.  Enjoy, your scones.

P.S.  If you wan to do these gluten free just substitute the flour for our gluten free flour mix and 1 1/2 teaspoons xanthen gum.  Or use our gluten free scone recipe.
